Tira NDA, based in Hamilton, operates a fleet of vacuum lifters used daily for handling sheet metal. The fleet is made up of units from several different manufacturers, each needing annual service checks, maintenance and recertification to stay compliant and safe in operation.
Tira needed one reliable service partner who could look after the whole fleet, regardless of brand, with minimal disruption to production.
Finding that partner locally proved difficult. Tira was unable to find a lifting equipment or vacuum lifter maintenance provider in Hamilton that could, or would, service a mixed-brand fleet. Several companies would only service the equipment they had sold themselves.
This left Tira facing an impractical option: managing multiple service providers across different brands, each with its own schedule, standards and paperwork. That approach adds administrative load, makes compliance harder to track, and increases the risk of a unit falling outside its certification period.
Tira approached Stratalign, and together we agreed on a structured servicing programme built around their operational needs.
Under the programme, Tira sends one or two vacuum lifters at a time to Stratalign’s workshop in Wiri, Auckland. This staggered approach keeps most of the fleet in service at the Hamilton site while individual units are being worked on.
Each unit is thoroughly assessed at our workshop. Where repairs are needed, Stratalign quotes them before any work goes ahead, so Tira keeps full control of cost and scope. Approved repairs are then carried out, on any brand of vacuum lifter, and each unit is recertified and returned to Tira, ready to go back into service.
Tira now has a single point of contact for servicing its entire vacuum lifter fleet. The programme delivers the same service standard across every brand and clear upfront pricing on repairs. Tira can also be confident that every unit is maintained and certified, without coordinating multiple suppliers or taking large parts of the fleet out of operation at once.
